Project Case Study

Community Action Heroes

GenerationOn - the youth division of Points Of Light - launched a summer of service campaign on July 2, 2012.

Objectives

Create a campaign to encourage youth to serve in their communities this summer by choosing a cause to get involved in, and a specific project related to that cause to complete. Once completed, they are encouraged to report back to the site to tell the story of their service project. Micro grants were awarded for the best projects so that the good work continues!

Solution

We designed and built a custom microsite - complete with original comic book illustrations - where kids and teens were encouraged to join forces to do good in their communities. Users picked a cause - animals, environment, literacy, to name a few - and then a project related to that cause to work on for the summer. They committed to do the project by registering on the site, and if they were among the first 1,000 to report back, they received a special gift from generationOn and the chance to win a micro grant to continue their good work. Kids & teens were able unleash their inner superheroes.
