Be Uniquely Green

The eBay Green Team - a global team of eBay employees committed to green commerce - launched an Earth Day website in April, 2012.

Objectives

Create a campaign to encourage consumers to be "Uniquely Green" on Earth Day, 2012, as well as to increase awareness of green commerce browsing and shopping experiences on eBay.

Solution

We designed and built a curated experience that begins with an interactive quiz for consumers to discover their green profile. (Are you an Adventurer? Builder? Techie?) This resulted in a personalized board that included green items on eBay and information about eBay initiatives. For taking the quiz, users had the option of entering a sweepstakes for a chance to win a $5K shopping spree on eBay.

Results

The campaign was designed to increase awareness of green commerce browsing & shopping experiences on eBay and drive sales of green products - and it did just that: 215,000 profiles were generated, and 90,000 sweepstakes entries were received. Almost 40,000 new Green Team members were recruited, resulting in millions of impressions across the eBay platform.
